The Futon Expo & Specialty Sleep Show® is owned and operated by the Futon Association International. The show takes place once a year, changing locations each year to expose as many retailers as possible to it’s unique mix of products.
The 2004 show in Philadelphia marked the 20th year that the Futon Expo had been held. Beginning as a small exhibition to accompany the Futon Association’s annual convention, it has grown into an international trade show that futon specialty stores, mattress stores, furniture stores and department stores have put permanently into their buying schedule. In 1999 the Specialty Sleep Association (formerly known as the Waterbed Association) gave their support to the show and it became the FUTON EXPO & SPECIALTY SLEEP SHOW®, offering specialty mattress categories that appeal to the growing number of mattress stores around the country.
The Futon Expo & Specialty Sleep Show® is the only show in the world dedicated specifically to what could be called “alternative furniture” Retailers who come to this show are specialty retailers, or conventional furniture stores looking to sustain or expand their seating/sleeping categories. These buyers are looking for exceptional function and comfort in seating and sleeping.
